Center for Accounting & Controlling

A holistic financial management competence is the basis for a successful, value oriented business management. The decisions made by management require an effective and efficient coordination of all relevant financial and informational data addressing the company’s stakeholders.

The Center for Accounting & Controlling is actively engaged in imparting comprehensive and applied knowledge to the students of the HWZ Hochschule für Wirtschaft Zürich in the disciplines of

• Accounting (Financial Accounting & Reporting, Management Accounting)
• Controlling (Strategic Controlling, Operatives Controlling); and 
• Auditing (Audit, Internal Controls and Risk Management)

to achieve these holistic competences.

At the same time, the Center for Accounting & Controlling is responsible for setting the syllabus of these disciplines at the undergraduate level, coordinate the approximately 30 lecturers in Accounting and Controlling and manage the postgraduate degree courses Master of Advanced Studies in Controlling as well as Master of Advanced Studies in Accounting & Finance as part of the continuous education offered by the HWZ Hochschule für Wirtschaft Zürich.

Applied research and development is a core activity of the Center for Accounting & Controlling. As such we seek active cooperation with private and public organizations to successfully conduct projects and studies. The resulting knowledge transfer benefits both our partners and us. This cooperation not only allows us to transfer the latest scientific findings to the companies, but it also allows us to observe the current practices and to introduce them into our teaching and research. The expectations of our students, the requirements of the companies and our own quality targets pose a continuous challenge for our Center and its employees.
