Every corporate activity takes place within a certain social environment. Any corporate success depends on conditions which cannot be created by a company itself. Assuming corporate social responsibility is thus in the enlightened self interest of any company. In an increasingly networked and globalized world, this affects all areas of the company management.
The Center for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) was founded by Dr. Christoph Weber-Berg on 1 May 2009 at the University of Applied Sciences in Business Administration Zurich. The field of activities include research, teaching and consulting.
Research
Empirical research of the Center includes studies on business conduct of leaders, as well as leading corporations, who effectively manage to integrate social responsibility and economic success.
Normative research focuses on the value cultures of companies and on the conceptualisation of CSR: “The Human Case for CSR”
The Center cooperates with the Institute for Strategic Management, Stakeholder View at the University of Applied Sciences and the Center for Religion, Economy and Politics at the Universities of Zurich, Basel and Lucerne, where Dr. Christoph Weber-Berg has been awarded a research fellowship for the period of 2010/11.
The Center for CSR is a member of the European Academy for Business in Society (EABIS) as well as the European Business Ethics Network, EBEN Switzerland.
Teaching
Various courses in business ethics as well as CSR and Corporate Governance (in cooperation with the Institute for Strategic Management) are offered. Current courses take place in degree programs as well as on advanced studies level. Since 2010 business ethics is an integral part of all bachelor programs.
Consulting
Among the range of services offered are consulting services in relation to the development and implementation of companies’ CSR strategies. Furthermore, the Center develops, supports and conducts internal, tailor-made CSR workshops and trainings for companies.
