In the global and knowledge intensive society of our time, value creation takes place in the highly differentiated networks of diverse stakeholders. The creative and constructive interaction of leaders in firms as well as in stakeholder organizations is indispensable, in order to concentrate and develop the necessary resources and bundle the diverse knowledge. In such network structures the driving force is the more often the "visible hands" of the managers and less the "invisible hands" of the market place.
